Robert E. Withrow III

Founder and Principal Attorney

Robert E. Withrow III (“Rob”) is the founder and principal attorney of Withrow Law Group, where he focuses his practice on family law and probate litigation.  Rob has spent his career representing individuals and families through complex, high-stakes, and often deeply personal legal disputes.

Rob represents clients in all aspects of divorce and family law, including contested and uncontested divorce, child custody and parenting disputes, child support, alimony, division of marital assets, paternity matters, modifications, contempt proceedings, restraining orders, grandparent visitation, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. He has particular experience representing parents in high-conflict custody cases, including matters involving Guardians ad Litem, mental-health and therapy records, the Department of Children and Families, allegations affecting a child's safety and well-being, and other complicated evidentiary and parenting issues.

Rob's approach to family law combines strong courtroom advocacy with practical, results-oriented advice. He believes that effective representation does not mean litigating every disagreement. Instead, he works with clients to identify what matters most, evaluate the likely costs and benefits of different strategies, and pursue solutions that make sense both legally and personally. When a case can be resolved through negotiation, Rob works toward a practical settlement that allows his client to move forward. When litigation is necessary, he is prepared to advocate for his client through motion practice and trial.

In addition to his family law practice, Rob represents clients in probate and fiduciary litigation. His experience includes disputes involving estates and trusts, will contests, fiduciary issues, complaints in equity, and other contested matters before the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court. His combined experience in family law and probate litigation gives him a broad perspective on disputes involving families, property, fiduciary responsibilities, and intergenerational issues.

Rob regularly appears in Probate and Family Courts throughout Massachusetts and has represented clients in Norfolk, Middlesex, Worcester, Plymouth, Suffolk, Essex, Bristol, and Barnstable Counties.

Before founding Withrow Law Group, Rob was a founding partner of Mulhall Withrow, PLLC, a Medfield law firm established in 2022 with practices in family law, estate planning, and probate matters. Prior to Mulhall Withrow, Rob practiced with Rico, Murphy, Diamond & Bean LLP in Natick, where he developed substantial experience in domestic-relations litigation and Probate and Family Court practice.

Rob earned his Juris Doctor from New England School of Law, now New England Law | Boston, and his undergraduate degree from Boston College. He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 2011.

Throughout his practice, Rob has remained focused on a straightforward principle: clients deserve an attorney who will tell them not simply what can be done, but what makes sense to do. Family and probate disputes can consume significant financial and emotional resources. Rob works to give clients candid advice, realistic expectations, and a clear strategy—while remaining ready to litigate aggressively when the circumstances require it.
